Moment in Time
It’s humid but the shrills of laughing children mingle with the calm of an island night. The sound of fun, it always makes me smile. The sparkling carnival lights illuminate the canopy of stars overhead and the playful twinkle in your eyes.
How does that feeling of leaning into your laughing body and wind whipping through my hair turn into a blur of a memory…a moment in time. The world was spinning around in an array of lights and music, but at the center it was just us.
Time passes and the ferry leaves. It’s just me.
I turn to see this place across the water where a perfect moment lives there in time. It's ours and no one else in the world, whether they care or not, will know how it felt. It's untouched. I like that. Part of me wants to chase it back across those roaring waves which separate me and this place and hold those blur of feelings forever…but it’s gone.
It morphs from a feeling to a moment to a memory.
Summer doesn't last long enough.
Let’s never grow up.
