Blanks
Words on a typewriter only leaves space
to splutter broken sounds from blurred “sorry”s
Not to write, Not to look, Not to be touched
In these voids I echo
Blotches of ink on a smudged window
Shattered shards anchored in flesh
Between screens, Between doors, Between held breaths
In these hollows I ache
Under teal paint reveals machinery
Muffled clicks a rhythm of its own
Things to say, Things to forget, Things to remember
In these blanks I remain

This poem depicts my struggles in expressing myself, as someone who often struggles to communicate their thoughts and emotions to others. Trying to encapsulate that feeling of wanting to speak, but unable to bring yourself to articulate any words, I hope that this poem is able to resonate with many of you, and offer you some solace in knowing that you're not alone in that feeling.
