Butterflies 

That's what everyone calls it

But when I was with you it was different 

Not butterflies 

It was a whole zoo 

The first time you held me 

It wasn't butterflies 

It was a zoo 

The first him you looked into my eyes 

It wasn't butterflies 

It was a zoo

A beautiful one 

One with all kinds of animals in it 

One that was full of light and happiness.

And then you left

The zoo was gone 

And the butterflies weren’t butterflies anymore 

They were bees

And the bees hurt  

Stinging me from all directions

Making me shed tears 

Making me not want to be here 

And that hurt 

That hurt a lot.
