My Role Model
MY ROLE MODEL
I looked up to her,
my role model
the person I wanted to be
the person I was going to be
But one day,
it all changed
she stopped trusting me
believing me
and I stopped idolizing her
stopped listening
stopped asking
never being home
coming in late
Somehow,
I was happy.
Happier than ever
because I was doing what I wanted
not what she wanted
Nothing more we can do
I still love her, of course
but I am growing up,
and we are growing apart
