I'm happy
I’m happy
I sing from the depths of my soul on a
stage, and look out at my fans
I’m happy
I skip through downtown with my best
friend and a cup of coffee
I’m happy
I go out to a party and move to the
music, surrounded by the people I love
I’m angry
I scream profanities at a wall because it
dared to stub my toe
But I’m happy!
I play a board game with my aunt and uncle
and laugh so hard I snort
I’m happy
I mean I got an A on my
chemistry test
I’m sad
I cry on the floor of the school bathroom
because my hair tie broke
No, I’m happy!
I smile and pump my fists in the back of a crowded car
to a song I don’t even know
I’m angry
I punch a pillow because my brother
used the outlet I wanted to use
I’m sad
I take a shower in darkness because the running
water drowns out my sobs
But I’m happy now!
I have a party with all my friends!
Four people showed up.
…
I think I’m happy.
...
Am I happy?
…
I’m not happy.
I’m just distracting myself from the depression.
…
Why aren’t I happy?
