Scars are interesting?

You ask what’s so interesting?

Well it is interesting what you can gain…

You can gain experience for starters…

You can also gain empathy, knowledge, even compassion for others.

But you can even gain regret and sorrow… Those… Those are the worst kinds…

However, you can still gain the same things from them.

They just… Take more time than others

For example-

I have the scars that came at a price.

A terrible… Regretful price…

But I learned that I cannot fix what I’ve done.

No matter how hard I try…

Even in my dying breath.

That’s holding on…

Whether the action was my choice or not I have to move forward.

For them…

And to gain the empathy and compassion for those who followed me…

I may not be forgiven nor shall I forgive my enemies..

I shall have and I shall share these treasures no matter what.

I once feared and regretted the scars I bear…

They didn’t come from happy places, in and out…

But eventually I learned this regret, this fear was my true enemy-

And it held me back from gaining the treasure of knowledge.

Anyways…

When I finish this race in life..

And they ask if I wanted a redo..

I would want to say-

“No thank you”

The author's comments:

The character I intended to have in this poem is suppose to appear to not have any wisdom, but that’s far from the truth. She has a lot of it, she just has a little trouble putting thoughts into words in the form of trailing off, many times. So even if she fails, she’ll just try again till she helped someone.
