Second Servings
Till it tears you, it taunts you
Stronger than boredom, fear, and hate
Dragging you to the end of the world
Digging through pains thought to be buried
You long for the blinding bliss once felt
To cloak and replace its pain
You blindly devour the feast of the present
Closing your eyes to a looming future and cycle
Conducted by those drunk in the sweetness of power
One swift swish of the baton
Brings your ultimate joy
Then another brings a familiar doom
Fragrant memories turn into pricking spikes
As you bear through another rhythm of misery
Dancing on a pathway of nails
The pains now numb to your senseless body
Motionless, all you can do is
Watch as your hunger is served as seconds
