An Autobiography of a doormat

I'm walked, I'm beaten and wrecked upon;

With not a bit of mercy,

Hi, it’s me the doormat lying

On the floor,

And here's my tiny life story.

I opened my eyes on the apex of a sapling;

Was greeted by the Sun's sultry face.

Being a juvenile

I was enthusiastic,

Unknown of the fact of having

a million footsteps to trace.

I got plucked and was sent to a factory;

There I was shaped to be an entity,

afraid of being subjected to a tragedy,

was in the hope of a day

when I'd be used as a commodity.

But now a sense of regret

do I feel,

'Coz with no mercy lowered is my dignity;

I'm worn, beaten, ragged  and left bruised,

To corrode under the fact that

If this continues,

I'll soon turn as a prophecy.

I've realized that they've no respect for me,

Hence the bang my soft face against their feet

Sadistically,

I don't know why they forget to understand,

That my heart too burns, Under the flames of their ego,

Lady toast served, Gradually.

Hey there,

I am Revon D., a 16 - year old aspiring poet article writer from Karnataka, India. I am an enthusiastic, determined, to-the-point writer.

You can find more of my works on my Instagram writing account: @revon.writes

This poem that I have written viz. The autobiography of a doormat is one of my favorite ones in my collection as it was one of my firsts. It is majorly centered on the discrimination that women are facing in the orthodox societies around the world. It deals with issues like women abuse, gender discrimination and others. Hope you guys like it.

Favorite Quote:
“All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they had really happened and after you are finished reading one you will feel that all that happened to you and afterwards it all belongs to you: the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse and sorrow, the people and the places and how the weather was. If you can get so that you can give that to people, then you are a writer.”
― Ernest Hemingway

This is a well written and very original poem.
