June 2022 Poetry Contest: The World is Hot
The world is hot.
Yes, we’ve been caught
Overconsuming what we’ve got.
Now we must fix a lot.
All along we knew
The trouble we’re getting into,
But now we say, “Who?
Did this come from you?”
But no, it was me,
And it was them and it was he.

I am a high school student-athlete and I am very passionate about climate change. I was inspired to create this piece because climate change is a big problem and a large threat to this generation. I enjoyed coming up with the rhythm and rhymes of this poem and writing it challenged me to become better. This piece incorporated my love for writing and environmentalism.
