We And The World
So much has changed over the millennia
None of us could have contemplated or have had an idea
Of what a steady yet pivotal time we would live in
The beginning of it all, we saw it as a win.
Progressive technology and kingdoms of factories
Soon trees and fresh air might merely be stories
A global village indeed, but in veiled poverty
The rat race we live in, it’s a sin of pity.
Not to play the blame game here
But how did it get complicated so quick, oh dear
All we had to do was make some shelter and grow a crop
And now it comes down to twitter and k-pop
Internet-ians fighting over brothers snitching and pineapple pizza
Which- ok…plausibly understandable
But why does that have to be commendable
Petty and political, millions of likes
This is getting, uh… ‘interesting’, yikes…
On a sad note though, we did forget to live
Experiences, moments and memories go down the sieve
And instead, we started to survive
Believing this would be the way to thrive
A misjudgement, sadly a shame,
We have wings to soar but no ground to reach
We fly to the highest skies and rot in a ditch.
It’s oke though, let us not let ourselves down by this
We’re not being chased by the abyss
It lays there waiting to be tamed
Not to be cursed or be blamed
In the end, there will always be downsides
And that’s what makes the walk of life feel like rides
Of course we have got the right to vent and complain
(and hopefully still remain sane) (lol)
But we’ll stand back gentle and strong
Look the abyss in the face
Not to defeat or prove it wrong
But to sway ahead with it
Not in a race
But as a sly wise teacher and friend
Which extends the lesson of endless growth and learning, by the hands it lend.
