The captain goes down with his ship
The lover goes down with his heart
The friend goes down with their foe
The failure goes down from the start
The strong one goes down when he’s weak
The weak one goes down when he’s strong
This ship I was destined to pilot
Has been going down all along
Captain, my friend, you knew something
I wished I could never have known
For though I’ve only felt fragments
This world you had built is mine own

Challenger Deep is one of my favourite books too and I really love Caden's character as it feels so relatable...That's why I got attracted to the title of this poem...

Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman is one of my favorite books, but it took years before I truly felt like I could relate to the main character once I experienced struggles of my own.
