Numbers
Lately,
It has become routine for me
to write down every calorie I consume
as if nourishment was something
to simply be added and subtracted.
To me,
food is like an enemy.
Humiliating,
avoided,
feared.
But at the same time,
food is like an unwanted crush.
It holds the power to make me happy,
it's inevitable,
and it's obsessive.
I just wonder
when my relationship with food
will be more than just numbers.
