Glass of Cold Water
A sip of cold water
hits your lips
Freeing you from discomfort of the warmth of the sun's rays
It soothes your body as it keeps it at bay
Even if it’s only for a day it keeps your tears away
As it goes down your pathway of terror
As it slides past your sadness and woes
It keeps the bad things away
As the cold water makes its way down
Disappearing from the body
Saying its stay has been for a long way
My mother says
Go get me a glass of cold water from down the stairs
Is to give her comfort from the ways she been hurt
Its to comfort her misery
Or maybe it's simply
To free her body of the ray that the sun has shone on us today
But when the blizzard is storming its way around our house and in our way
My mothers says
Get me a a glass of cold water from down the stairs
And I wonder
Is this to free her from the words and misfortune she has gotten
when she went the way into the house of which she did not like to stay
Or is it to keep the homeostasis of her body to somehow neutralize the cold from the blizzard with the glass of cold water
When this doesn't make sense I ask my mom why
Why do you drink the cold water blizzard or rays
She simply says
I like my water cold
Even if the water shall make you cold
I wonder as I stare into my mothers seemingly empty eyes
She says
I simply like my water cold
So this leaves me in wonder
Is the cold water just her way
Or is it just her shield from the ways of her life
Thats seem oh so treacherous
Is it because of the time she stayed in the house in which she did not want to stay
Praying one day she shall have a house
She can call her own
That day came
Yet she still asked for the drink of cold water
Is it because of the family
she oh so wanted from the other side of the large ocean
Or is it because
She had tough nights
those nights I wondered
why did the tears come from my mothers eyes
Why did they taint her shirt and cover her seemingly endless eyes
Or maybe
It's simply
Because
She likes her water
Cold

Whenever I had art block I would go to my mom and ask her to give me advice, any ideas. Every time she would say make a poem about her and every time I would tell her shes crazy, but this one is for you mom. I love you.
