Pool Time
Pool Time
I will never swim in a pool
Without thinking about you
The cool inside of the house
And the soft carpet on my feet
The door to the patio begrudgingly opens
It drags itself across the thick carpet
Humidity punches me in the face
The dog shoves his way past
His enthusiasm for the pool is infectious
He barks
And smack! He’s in
Using his tail like a paddle to swim in circles
We squirt sunscreen into our hands
Rubbing it on our bodies feels like a chore
We wipe the leftover grease on the towels
Now we’re ready
Those days, so far away from now
In a pool, thinking about you

This poem is about my cousin's pool at his house. They recently got rid of it and I miss it.
