Insanity
Oh temporary feelings
Flying by like a flock of birds,
Can hit like a truck or fall like a feather
Unable to know exactly when the pain will hit
Slightly opening the soda bottle for relief:
Yelling at a car on the freeway,
Staring into space,
Trying to find happiness at the bottom of an ice cream tub,
The rooted feelings always remain
Building up inside to only explode like a beach ball hostage underwater
Not like the quick relief of a soda bottle
The agony and struggle to keep it trapped
Fighting knowing the only outcome
But the longer the battle, holding it captive
The bigger the explosion
Inevitable release making disarray on all that surrounds
Oh the ripping of a bandaid
Quick predictable pain
Not the same of a mutilated hangnail
The slow agonizing sight
A bleeding trail of broken skin
Leaving a mark that will last
And a memory that will stain
Only to then still do it all again
Following the same footsteps, making the same mistakes
Endless attempts at putting up a fight with the beach ball
Picking at the hangnail knowing it will only lead to hurt
Repeated action expecting a different outcome
Oh temporary feelings you have turned me insane

This was a poem I wrote after getting hit by a car on my bike, it is not really related but the idea just came to me.
