what angels look like in the bible

stand outside your front door
on a particularly windy day,
right before fat droplets
slip
from the lip
of His eye.
now turn your head—
no not all the way,
just ever so slightly to the right.
shhh.
listen.
.
.
.
do you hear that?
that rustling?
that w-h-i-s-t-l-i-n-g that goes around
in & out your ear?
most days, it sounds less like the wind
and more like tiny,
furious,
screams.
sometimes, i think the cosmos are trying to send me a sign.
most days, I’m just guessing—
but I’m pretty sure that’s the sound
of angels
yelling at
God.
