A Million Pieces
A person’s happiness is like a structure of fragile blocks
A masterpiece
Others’ words and actions can strengthen it
Or chip away at the pieces, making them smaller
Making the monument harder to rebuild
Eventually we run out of glue, we’ve used it so much
That’s when we lean on others, to borrow some of theirs
Sometimes we spend forever gluing our pieces back together
Just for someone with a hammer to come along
To destroy it
Into absolutely nothing

I wrote this extended metaphor poem about the fragility of happiness. It's kind of my own experience with love and relationships.
