Dear Written Words

To the written words in our world,

Placed within a book, a phone,

A sign you spot on your drives.

You spill into our minds, both doing the good and bad

You on a page may unlock a whole world for some.

A whole fantasy, an escape.

Until you don’t…

Until instead you make a dungeon.

Locking in innocent minds and hearts.

Until the owner of the pen writes you the wrong way

Abuses you completely, using you for their own power.

Oh to the world you create.

To your owner, to the one who holds the pen tight in their hand.

To the aggressive rules and laws they write.

To the past ‘peaceful’ ones they pretended to make.

To the people, to the owners of these words;

Were they aware flowers come in oh so many colors

As for axolotls who have many different patterns and colors to come in.

How come you don’t enjoy these varieties of colors?

How come you don’t allow us all to live the same?

Why do your ‘written words’ control the words that which melt from our tongues?

Your ‘written’ ones twist our spoken ones into horrible things…

All while you’re in the complete ‘right’

You say we live in peace, you say there's no more worry in our world, you say…

You say all of these…

These… written words;

“Don’t say g@y.”

Three simple words…

Just one of those terrible written words.

To the written words in our world,

F*** you”

The author's comments:

The words in our world are used for both good and bad,

the bad seems to overtake quite a lot, especially in a government situation.

This poem though is specifically directed towards the 'Don't say g@y' bill.

I'm not completely sure on the 'swearing' policies so I censored some words just in case.

Like said; good and bad are what words can do, they just need to be in the right hands.
