all is just
night is silent and all is just
out of place the stars they shine
they sing to me twinkle twinkle
little and wee but still they are mine
air is heavy while dust settles
down goes the light in their eyes
blink back and forth once twice
once they were kind gentle wise
breath is light so sleep comes
quick we’ll all crumble to dust
finally the night sings its last song
blink once twice close sleep must—

i wrote this about saying goodbye to a loved one. thinking a lot about death...i also found myself staring at the sky, the "heavens" just thinking about them a lot. so i used some of that kind of sleep/night/dying imagery in this piece.
