Everyone wants roses
Roses are beautiful
Their perfectly formed petals a deep crimson
Scent so sweet it’s intoxicating
But roses hold their petals tight to themselves
For they have secrets to hide and they must keep them close
And underneath their pretty perfume
They carry thorns
Unforgiving and sharp to the touch
One wrong move and their pretty demeanor turns vicious
The prettiest things are always the best liars

But whatever happened to wildflowers
Their imperfect petals
And mismatched colors
Defy what many call beauty
Wildflowers are strong
They hold firm against the unpredictable wind of nature
Defying all odds
All expectations
They grow any and everywhere
They bloom fully
Petals open to the world
They come in all colors
All shapes
All designs

Most people trample straight past the wildflowers
Eyes set only on the roses, unable to spare a glance to anything different
But the few that do stop to admire
Witness a whirlwind of unpredictable beauty
Extraordinary in their differences
