Flower petals

I wander through a field of resplendent flowers
Plucking the vibrant petals off a freshly sprouted Lily
Humming the nonsense words
He loves me
He loves me not
Memories of ill torn love flood my brain
No, Not love. Lust.
Abundant compliments turned to empty promises
Rosy cheeks blushing at your marvelousness
Turned too burning fury at your deception and lies
Good mornings, beautiful dissipated to
Goodbye, and screw you for all you’ve done.
He loves me.
He loves me not.
Making the time to see me before work
Turned too taking the time to hide your location
Sending me songs that remind you of me
Turned to hearing songs that tear at the heart strings
You swore you’d Never Break
But yet still
The flower petals drift away in the early spring air
Away
Away with the feelings and abundance of love I once had for you
“He loves me”
“He loves me not”

i am a senior in high school at Rogers and have always had a passion for words and the power that English holds. This piece was something I wrote on a whim that I never had intention of publishing, but as I moved through my senior year, I realized it was something I had grown to be very proud of.
