My Second Home
My game, my sport, my position, my second home
No matter how hot, no matter how cold, my heart will never roam
No matter the sweat, the bruise, the bump
This game, this sport, this position makes my heart pump
My body, my mind, my heart longs to be behind my second home
No matter the situation, no matter the time, no matter the place, my mind will never roam
Laser focus, not a flinch, not a break, I can’t miss
All of my time and effort goes into this
I must protect my second home
This game has me heart, my mind, and my soul
Everything I do here, success is my goal
I love this place, right behind the plate, right behind my second home

This piece is about what goes through my mind as I am catching. Catching is apart of the sport softball, which can sometimes be a very quick paced sport, especially for a catcher who is apart of every play in the game. This poem gives a glance at what goes on in a catchers mind while they are behind their second home, which in this story is home plate.
