Your Strange Addiction
They come in all different styles and sizes,
Yet they are still the same.
Yellow, pink, angular, round, small, large, disguised.
They come with a different name.
Always interesting, always with advice
Can even be a path to fame.
Filled with books, songs, games, ideas and archives,
“Never boring!” you acclaim.
The surplus of information leads to highs,
But also can fill with shame
It holds your life, which it took as a surprise.
You can toss and twist the blame
All you want, but the issue of it underlies
With you. You who let that flame
Take control. Leaving parties, saying goodbye,
Going home at 1 a.m.
Just to stare at it, though it is unwise.
You must go back and reclaim
Your own life without it everywhere. Besides,
You could just play board games,
Or step outside, have a look out with your eyes.
You need to leave it at home.
So before you go out, leave, and say goodbye.

I saw how the thing this poem describes is always around me and how it is replacing talking.
