Night Sky
I hate sleep
It is such an inconvenience
Why would I sleep when I could stay up
All night
And watch the sky shift
from Blue, to Green, to Yellow, to Orange, to Red
to Black
And watch the stars pop through the infinite darkness
And watch the moon turn her face to me
Smiling
She would sing me a lullaby
But I would not sleep
How could I sleep on such a beautiful night?
Nighttime is so quiet
Calm
Some might say “It must be lonely”
And I say “I like to be alone”
There is a difference between being lonely and being alone
I can be lonely in a room full of people
Walking by and going about their day
Not acknowledging that I am even there
But I can be alone with the moon and the stars
And feel happy
Oh to stay awake all night
And stay with the moon until she falls asleep once again
And the night sky changes
from Black, to Red, to Orange, to Yellow, to Green
to Blue
The brightest, happiest blue
But I am not happiest when the sun comes up
I love the night, and I wish it would stay
Forever
