Ode to a Yellow Key

I lost my yellow key.
It led to a big door,
T’was old, brown and dusty,
Led to my ‘Wonderland’.
I lost my yellow key.
It opened up doorways,
To dragons and odd dreams,
A land of pure magic.
I lost my yellow key.
Yellow, like the bright sun,
Akin to happiness,
Alike unbridled warmth.
I lost my yellow key.
My only saviour,
It was close to my heart,
Lost forever, in the dark.
I lost my yellow key.
My escape from the sad,
Dreary world we live in,
I lost my sole lifeline.

Also, I would kinda like to explain the gist of the poem, and I would really appreciate it if the readers take a little time to check this comment out.
As you might have noticed, this poem has been written in a simple way and is quite short.
There's a reason behind this.
From my POV, the person who's saying this poem is a little kid who feels alone. Might it be exclusion in school or not enough attention from family, this child is alone and sad and their vast imagination helps them cope with that.
You might have also noticed that the child was talking about a 'Wonderland' with dragons and odd dreams, which shows their childlike innocence and their magical imagination.
The child believes that the yellow key they own is in fact the KEY to their happiness which is why they're devastated.
The child also associates the colour yellow with happiness and warmth, which shows that the 'Wonderland' that he finds his way to provides him with the love and joy he craves. This is why the child says that their key was lost 'forever in the dark', which is the complete opposite of what the yellow colour meant to them.
You could also notice that the child describes the door as 'old, brown and dusty'. The door represents his life in the real world, which isn't the best. The key represents his imagination and his thoughts which help him escape from that.
The child needed the yellow key to survive, the child needed the yellow key for it was his only source of happiness, which is why they felt like they lost their 'sole lifeline'.

This was something we had to work on for our Literature class.
Since I'm stupid, I waited until the last 30 minutes we had to turn it in and surprisingly, it didn't turn out that bad.
