Clementine

A bright clementine sits before me, the color of the radiant sun

It holds a porous texture- anything but uniform and firm

The sound as I peel- a mix of a squelch and what sounds like crunching leafs under my foot

The peel holds an unpleasant scent, bitter and earthy- it almost stings

While the fruit is fragrant and fresh

The taste is strong and overwhelming, it comes and goes- as if it was never there
