Park Walk
Geese scatter in the distance as I approach,
deterred by the footfalls I labored to make silent and slow.
I turn to avoid my impending doom,
I want to find my car gone,
I want to walk the twelve miles home,
to tear the asphalt from the Earth and watch
from where they lay undisturbed, alone on the crystalline surface
at the center of the universe.
