Graduation
Days passed like cars on a race track
The day gets closer by the minute
Some wish it never came,
Others won’t make it to this moment
Few have strived for the top
To be the best in the class
With all of us students sitting in our chairs
All spaced apart
Listening to the many speeches,
And getting all the applause
That will be given that day
Some by peers,
Others by the administration
We will all
W a l k
across the stage
Receiving our diplomas
Come down
Throwing our hats in the sky
For them to never come down
The parents will clap
As the birds cheer in the background
We will walk out of High School
For the very last time
As High School Students

I am a senior in high school. I have just started writing poetry and would love for my poem to be published with Teen Ink. My poem is about graduation from high school and I feel this is fitting for this time of year considering graduation is in a few months.
