Assimilate

For all the diverse cultures of the world, we fall,

We fall along with all our ancestors into the same sin,

We make the same mistakes, generational curses linger,

Some continue to wander without purpose, yet claim they life

Hollow shells of man wander this planet, what are they searching for,

How will they find what they need if there is no previous reference,

Blind leading blind and false teachings of a confused prophet leading the masses astray,

I have a problem, which is not believing people ever really change all that much,

And why should I, the forerunners of revolution fall too quickly to change anything,

From Abraham Lincoln to Martin Luther King, the world fought back,

So we continue down the same road, no end in sight,

This circle we wander, doomed to routine,

Join us, so inviting, yet as deadly as the venom of a slithering diamondback,

A serpent named “Assimilate” disguised as “Unity,”

Sinking it’s jagged fangs into the foolish wanderer that might pursue individuality,

Wrapping it’s slender body around the throats of any sort of movement,

Choking the life of everything that makes this country unique,

Yet, we embrace this creature, we welcome it into our homes and our hearts, we give it a dwelling,

Search your hearts and root out this foul beast, have you fallen as others before us,

Woe! Turn now, escape the cycle and attempt to open the prison doors,

Free the multitudes, unlock the shackles and yokes of “Unity,” before I draw my last breath.
