Seaside Lies
You walk by the sea,
Taking fairly long strides,
The imagery of failure, still fresh in your mind.
Heavy footing on the sand with a thump and a sigh,
For a walk in the water, you're ever so dry.
“I am worthless” you think,
Death, the apple of your eye,
And as you pop off the cap,
You wish as if you were time.
You take a final glance at the sea,
Drunk on authentic grape vines,
But in the distance you see a riptide,
And as it nears you, you ask a great wish from the sky.
“Do not fear” it says “do not hide”,
“For I, the ocean, hear your cries.”
But you know not the ocean’s lies.
You know not the oceans lies.
In front of you now, she high raises five,
And in your dampness from its splash, wraps you in warm hide.
Days pass and somewhere else do your problems reside.
The ocean feeds you from his tides,
But you know not the ocean’s lies.
The ocean knows of your demise,
And in your lowest, boosts your pride.
With the ocean, you spent more and more time,
But started to feel sharp pains in your side,
But you knew the ocean, and of his kind,
So you paid the pain no mind.
Yet to come,
The ocean leaves your side,
And takes you out its tide.
In the end,
You learn the oceans tricks,
And of its great disguise.
You see now that the beautiful ocean,
Where tranquility and peace once thrived,
Was not an ocean after all,
But instead a river of knives.
