Backyard Tree
I love that old pine in my backyard
Its huge and blows around like a carwash tube man in the wind,
but it always stays up and sturdy
I wonder what makes it stay so strong
Even its little side branches coming off of the main trunk don't seem to snap in a storm ever,
as much as they flail and spin
I wish I could be like that in a way and be able to just stand strong
Not let myself get so easily snapped and twisted around by some wind
I think I just heard a branch snap and fall into the leaf litter below
Maybe I was wrong

My name is Jensen, and I'm currently taking Creative Writing at my school. I wrote this poem partially inspired by my teacher, laying in bed one night. I looked out my window and saw a huge pine tree in my yard swaying with the wind hyperbolically.
