What if you were a stereotypical girl?

Sweet,

Pretty,

Good sense of fashion,

Basically anything ‘girl-related’?

I can’t know your perspective,

But I do know that girls,

They’re not all like that.

They could be like that,

But not all of them are.

They can be masculine,

They can be feminine,

They can be androgynous,

They can be anything.

But.

They’re not all like that.

Just like how not all men are…

Buff, or something like that.
They all are different.

That’s the whole point, yeah?

But again,

I can’t know your perspective.

I can’t know your perspective,

But not all autistic kids are, well, dumb.

Hate to break it to you.

I mean, yeah, some have learning disabilities,

But some are probably smarter than you.

Autism Spectrum Disorder.

It’s a spectrum.

Make it make sense, people.

Doesn’t mean that it makes people dumb, though.

Just like how not all depressed people are always sad,

Broken,

Don’t enjoy anything,

Or anything people think the term ‘depressed’ means.

I can’t know your perspective, though.

I can’t know your perspective,

But not all gay men are flamboyant.

Not all lesbians are masculine.

Not all bisexuals are cheaters.

Not all, my god, so many more other stereotypes.

They’re all wrong,

You know?

They’re all different.

They’re all unique.

A person’s sexuality,

Gender,

Or another identity should not define them as a person.

I can’t know your perspective, though.

You’ll probably still believe all these dumb lies!

You probably still believe that,

Women are housekeepers,

Men are workers,

Autistic kids cannot learn well,

Depressed people cannot feel joy,

Gays are ostentatious,

Lesbians are tough,

You’ll probably still believe those.

In all honesty, stereotypes shouldn’t exist.

I can’t know your perspective, though.

A poem I made about stereotypes :)

It was originally for school, but my teacher wanted me to submit it here, so I am now.
