Haunted Eyes
I look around the room
Your blue eyes catch mine, sending butterflies straight to my stomach, a dagger straight to my heart
Just like in my dreams
Nightmares
Those eyes I'll always recognize
From countless conversations, endless staring contests, late night facetime calls just to see those eyes
My eyes are locked with yours
Held captive, against my will, no escape
The memories in those eyes are countless, painful, lovely
Im teleported to another time, another place
Months ago when you were mine
Telling me you love me forever with shining eyes
Teleported again
Different time, different place, different feelings
A month ago, when you stopped being mine
This time it was not your eyes shining, but mine
Shining with tears that were racing each other down my cheeks
As your eyes betrayed what you wanted way before your lips could form the words
As I jolt back to the present, i see those same eyes watching me
Still staring into mine… longingly?
The intensity of this stare is killing me slowly and painfully
Killing me while also giving me hope
Hope is a death sentence for sure
I finally look away
Break eye contact
Re break my heart.
