Don’t let this classroom perish
The laws of the land do dictate,
That everything must give back your time, it must relate,
Lest it becomes a boredom, a chore,
Another occupant in your mind, and he never pays rent,
But there is a reason, oh what they don’t know,
If I had a voice I’d sing so loud,
No don’t stop, why abandon it now,
How do I make them see, how do I make them care.
Though truth be told I know the feeling,
A fish out of water,
A giraffe with no neck,
Why put in the effort for a skill,
You clearly don’t own,
But this isn’t just more busy work,
It’s a true lesson,
An appreciation,
There is many applications,
Don’t let me be the only one who cares,
The only one who knows,
I fail where you succeed,
Is that something that you cannot see,
Use your talents,
use your gifts,
Show the world what you have to offer,
Don’t sit there with the shades half open,
Don’t let this classroom die.
