Forever to Never
I look back at you now, only to understand that we were never going to be a forever team.
You had too many different distractions for us to be able to accomplish our dreams together.
But hey- you did what I thought we would do as a united front, as a one-man operation; I guess I should be saying congratulations.
You were there when nobody else could be.
There when you should have been, and somehow there when nobody else would have bothered to be.
Your smile always there to brighten my day,
You always had a way to say that it would all be okay.
I was there to hold your hand as the tears fell down your face.
I watched as you lost everyone that helped you win your race;
You thought that you won everything, but you forgot to keep a steady pace.
You never seemed to slow down though… too late now to realize that you had lost your entire homebase.
I suppose that you have won the race; I hope that the grace you received was worth everything that you have lost.
I loved you to the point where I would never leave you, yet I’m so glad that I was able to deceive you.
You were going to be my forever, turned into my never.
Never again will I support your crazy dreams, or be there to hear your late night screams.
Once again though, you accomplished your one-man operation, so with the deepest sincerity, congratulations.
You will always have a place in my heart, but us being apart is forever, and I truly hope that you will never come back again to hurt my heart.
