Deception
I am a good liar.
I tell my mother I did my homework,
But it sits untouched,
In the bottom of my bag.
I tell my father I’m not hungry,
After returning home from a long day.
I tell my friends I don’t feel well,
When I really just want to stay at home.
Most importantly,
I lie about you.
They ask how you are,
I pretend not to know or care.
I lie,
When I say I don’t miss you.
I don’t miss your eyes,
And how they glowed when you’d look at me.
Such as a vow,
That whispered out my name.
I don’t miss your words,
When they caressed my ears with a perfect melody.
The gracious hymn of delicate words,
Filling me whole.
I don’t miss your touch,
Or your embrace,
Holding me ever so tightly.
I would give my last dying breath,
To be held by you one last time.
Like I said,
I don’t miss you.
I am a great liar.
