Trifling With My Toes
I wore flip flops outside
And the winter gnawed my toes raw
One by one
I was too buried to notice
Because the cold made them feel warm
Motherly how winter clang to them
Until I stepped in the water
The water scorched my toes and vilified them for forgetting
Im sorry they screamed
Was it their fault winter was so enthralling
I began to bed with my toes for water to stop the agony
But she was set
And torched my toes
