i stumbled upon a haven

you once probed my “i don’t know”
and asked me to describe for you
the purple and yellow and blue
the tides of a tranquil ocean
what you didn’t know
is you asked the world of me
for i saw tints and tones that
there are no adjectives for
how can one describe
stepping out on a spotless beach
watching the waves kiss the sand
laying under springtime sunlight?
all i know is
i stumbled upon a haven
i have no words better than
“safe.”
