Autumn Nostalgia
Autumn leaves of red, orange, and yellow
Blowing in the wind
Catching flight
Drifting away
Emitting a nostalgic scent
Forgoing all my worries
Giving me a sense of calm
Helping me reminisce the bliss of life
Inspiring me to look out the window
Jotting down what I see:
Kiwis ripening on the huge tree outside
Little kids jumping into piles of red, orange, and yellow
Moms chatting as they cradle their young ones
Nuts being cracked in the eager paws of squirrels
Orphean warblers singing a beautiful song
Pine trees swaying to the rhythm in the gentle breeze
Quilts, intricate and soft, emerging for the winter
Racing their kites, children scream in glee
Stroking a ukulele, the teens bring life to the patio
Tomatoes, jeering at me, dancing the salsa
Underneath the porch, a mouse nibbles evening cheese
Violet hues glint in the setting horizon
Wishing these scenes would last forever
Xeroxed in my brain, captured by my ink
Yet one day, just like the leaves, it would disappear
Zippered away in my past
