Wise Tree
The big tree
Looked down at me.
Its welcoming branches,
Blowing in the crisp air.
Dead leaves and acorns
Lying beneath.
Home of birds and squirrels, with
Small holes from woodpeckers.
Thick bark with all kinds of shades of brown,
And crickets chirping at the base.
Years and years of watching freshman arrive,
And seniors leave.
A witness of old and young, and
Heartbreaks and love.
If you ever need life advice,
Feel free to ask the wise tree.
