I used to have a distaste
for the idea of standing out.
Being perceived, simply too much
for someone who desperately desires to blend in.
Yet now, that peacock showmanship-
'You cannot call me odd, for I announce as such when I enter the room,'
turning heads as I walk past
and hearing whispers of
'Look at her,' 'love that outfit',
fuels an understanding:
they will perceive me,
regardless of if they like it or not
and people will remember my facade
of glitz and glamor for much longer
than their sweatpants.
