What Did I Remember
I remember
the smell of burning wood at night
I remember
hearing the crackling of leaves
I remember
seeing the steep downhill of white snow before me
I remember
feeling the warmth of the seat in my neighbors car because I make him trade seats with me
I remember
breathing in the hard cold air while running and looking back and seeing my friend behind me
I remember
all the sleds and toys we had just to enjoy the time we had outside even more
I remember climbing a tree
Climbing the most beautiful, well thought out branches, with great long vines of leaves
Feeling the rough of the branches as I climb higher
Later
Seeing the bright blue, bright yellow, bright orange of the fire
behind the dark background of the night
Hearing a whisper here and there
Smelling the thick autumn, leafy, Oakley smell
Creating these memories in the back of my mind
To be saved
And remembered some other time

I wrote this piece about the time I lived in North Carolina which was one of the best experiences I had in my life. I am very appreciative of the memories I made and am glad I get to share them here.
