then it wouldn't have been like that. 

If it was meant to be, 

your flush skin would have lingered a little bit longer on top of mine,

your kisses would have stayed carved in my mind,

your voice would be more than a faint whisper in my dreams.

If it was meant to be,

I would have saved all my tears, 

I would have given you my I love you's

I would have held on more than I did.

If it was meant to be, 

we wouldn't have experienced all of this pain, 

trying to make it into something it was not. 

But perhaps it was meant to be, 

and we lost it all. 

Perhaps yes, 

and that hurts me even more.
