Advice from a Basset Hound
Howl every morning and every night;
Don’t be afraid to express your voice and to let yourself be heard
Take lots of naps, and chew lots of bones
Enjoy the little things in life, such as sniffing out rabbits,
chasing squirrels and running freely through the back yard
Be friendly and loving, except when it comes to cats
Indulge in yummy treats and toys
Let your ears hang low, but don’t allow the opinions of others
to drag you down or stop you from being happy

I am a 12th grade student at Papillion lavista south highschool. I enjoy reading and writing, and I wrote this piece for my creative writing class. The inspiration for this poem is my Basset Hound Tori.
