Cheer When No One's Near
It's half time, we can say hi to family and friends
I wander around, tagging along with anyone
Then wait and wait until the timer ends
Because I know the people I want to come aren't near.
Unexpectedly, a touchdown happens
There's only 16 seconds left
They miss, but win. The lights blacken.
Another plus for this season's winning streak
I scream excitedly until my voice goes out
I jump into the air, shake my pom poms
The others do the same, running 'round about
I look behind with a smile hoping to see a smile back.
Then I remeber,
He hasn't come to any of the games
With my parents busy I was at least hoping
He'd fill in their spots but seeing his text pains
Me as he informs again that he'll be missing another night.
I know the people I want to come aren't near.
I know I am suppose to cheer
For the boys on our team
But it twists my geers
That no one's cheering for me.
