Broken wing
Once I saw an Ibis with a broken foot,
I told a zookeeper,
They said to leave it,
It can still fly,
I asked why can’t we help it?
I was told if it was a broken wing we would,
A broken wing would be a death sentence,
It cant survive if it can’t fly,
My wing is broken,
But people think it’s my foot,
I’ve been left
But I cant fly
I try to fly after my flock,
I plummet to the ground,
So I run after them
I’m too slow,
What’s the use of a bird who can’t fly?
Perhaps I should succumb
No one in my flock would notice,
Who sees the bird with a broken wing?
They don’t see the shattered bones,
They don’t see the shredded feathers,
They see the lagging behind,
They see the lowering altitude,
They don’t slow
