Where I'm From
I am from my computer, from Some By Mi and my phone.
I am from the smell of Vietnamese traditional food, conversations in Vietnamese language, and the warmth of lots of members in the house.
I am from going to the church every Sunday, eating Vietnamese food on weekends, being born with black hair, from the ones that create and bring me and my sister to explore this world.
I am from the family that speaks in Vietnamese for interaction and prays to God when we gather to do something together, since we believe God will bless us for what we’re doing.
From the advice by my parents, “If you don’t pray before going to sleep, the devils or ghosts will come to you and sleep next to you” and ““If you try to save money, you can buy any stuff that you want.” told by my sister.
I am from devotion and respect, since devotion is really necessary since you have a religion, when you are devoted, you are blessed with good fortune.
From that respect, I know it is important when communicating and interacting with others.
I'm from Vietnam, Pho, vegetables, and fruits such as broccoli, apple, watermelon and banana.
From the whole big family that was finally reunited after my own family came to the U.S more than two years ago.
From the sad time that my grandmother passed away after my family left her and came to Boston.
Also from the first time seeing and talking to my cousins who were born in Boston, since I hadn’t met them before.
I’m from a rooster crowing every morning of my childhood, it’s loud as an alarm.
I’m from drowning in a sea of grief with tough times.
I’m from the frequency of hugs and cares, warmth of gathering.
I’m from living in the summer with freetime.
I’m from origins, family, friends and people.
