Move(d) On
A riot
A violent disturbance by a crowd
Taking part in a violet public disturbance
An act to show frustration
But taken too far
Too disrespectful and violent
Illegal and wrongful
You say it’s not a riot yet people are dying
Yet state officials are vying for change
For some sort of trust we can’t manage to give
People are crying over a flag
A flag fought to keep out
Viewed as racism and hurt
A University poll says that 56% of our population
That’s at least 56% of our nation that was violated
But we were told to not give up
Told to not concede
Told that we need to do what’s right
But look up
Look up because not everything’s all right
A society shot at while it’s still light
For what
Wasn’t it said, “it is what it is”
Well it is 5 lives taken that day
100 plus people brought away
Because it was stolen
No, our society’s filled with holes
No it’s broken
Or is it just hurting wanting to thrive
So lets take a drive
Lets go back to that day where people felt unsafe
Murder the media on the door
Destroyed camera equipment on the floor
You respect the police but somehow one dies
But for what?
They say our departments need to work harder but it’s us who needs to be smarter
They said we knew it was coming and that’s true
But it’s the fact that it happened
The fact that there was an idea and it was followed through
But the change that they want doesn’t come from flesh
When something doesn’t go your way you turn on something that’s been giving us structure
That’s now giving us aim in a time of ach
A terroristic act all because our trusted lacked
But what did it do?
We were told to not give up
Told to not concede
Told that we need to do what’s right
But was that right?
What I see is a society shot at while it was still bright
Wasn’t it said, “it is what it is”
Well it is 5 lives taken that day
100 plus people were brought away
Because it was stolen
No, our society’s filled with holes
No it’s broken
Or is it just hurting wanting to thrive
So lets take that drive
Lets go back in time
But why?
There’s a difference between a protest and a riot
Freedom of speech is a right
And we hold that very tight
To our hearts
But tell me where does it say we have the right to be violent because of where our trust lies
People who lost their lives
People who were disrespected and are trying to say why
Oath keepers protect the constitution
But you can’t stop a child from growing
Can’t stop a nation from knowing
What’s here
What’s changing
But all we can do is spread what we know
Trust what is real not just because someone said so
Because we are America
We are hurt
But we are thriving
We are flawed but we are working
We are impulsive
But we are changing
You can’t stop a wound from hurting
But you can stop the blood from flowing
And we can move forward
