It walks across the void

It's dark cloak concealing but bones and blood

In one white hand, a long scythe

In the other, the ends of several ropes

They float above, a stark juxtaposition

Their feet aimed at the stars

White specks of life so far away

Floating farther with each step

They are all dressed differently

Each one a different age

But their necks are all the same

Kept from floating away by hastily tied slipknots

Balloons, it thinks to itself

Balloons, it thinks once more

Disappointment and sadness

Concealed in its white chalky face

But it knows the stars shine on

Even though they are too far too see

It stops at the door, and takes an airless sigh

It opens to the clouds, and it cuts them go

The author's comments:

This poem came from the idea of a painting I wasnt to make of a grim reaper walking through darkness delivering suicide victums to heaven. I can't draw for the life of me so I made a poem out of the idea and it turned out half decent!
