Mobil
I sit in my car
listening to the radio and the beat of the music,
the humming of the engine and the whistle of the air
from the vents as my car rides down the road
between the iridescent yellow
line and the glowing white
line. I feel my mind drift off thinking about everything
but also nothing. I imagine the taste of the
smoothie I drank this morning,
the salad I had at lunch
but
automatically my mind drifts to that day.
that tuesday
mid afternoon
in january
when I got the call
braking my body in half.
I drive
no words are said
no thoughts
no image is imagined in my mind
I just drive
solely following the way the
lines move along the dark asphalt
and the view of the
road ahead with no intentions.
I know that
if I am in the comfort of these four doors
with the sun shining around me
the music humming in the background
the forefront of my mind always focused on him
I know I will be okay
there is no safer place
